Elite Cricket Club Kohima today emerged champion of 2nd Kohima Inter-Club T20 Tournament 2024 organised by Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.

ECC took the champion title after a commanding 49-run victory over Kohima Hornbills in the finals.

Winning the toss, Elite CC elected to bat first and posted a competitive 147/4 in 20 overs.

Key contributions came from Imomenba (41 off 37 balls), Zidu (33 off 25 balls), and Viketho (29 off 27 balls).

The Kohima Hornbills’ bowlers, Anga Vizale (1/31 in 4 overs) and Vithoshe Yeptho (1/28 in 4 overs), worked hard to restrict the scoring but couldn’t prevent ECC from setting a challenging target.

In response, Kohima Hornbills struggled under pressure and were bowled out for 98 runs in 18.2 overs.

Despite a resilient 27 not out by Vithoshe and 18 runs from Kepesielie, the Hornbills couldn’t build partnerships to chase down the target.

ECC’s bowlers dominated the innings, with Sepichem claiming 3 wickets in 4 overs and Kelhousielie taking 2 wickets in 4 overs.
The tournament, which started from November 19, witnessed the participation of four teams. It includes; Elite CC, Kohima, Missionshire Cricket Club, Dapfhütsumia Cricket Club and Kohima Hornbill

The event featured a round-robin league stage with six matches, followed by an exhilarating final match, making a total of seven matches played over four days.

The tournament showcased remarkable talent, with players excelling in both batting and bowling.

The disciplined bowling efforts, high boundary count, and consistent performances throughout the tournament demonstrated the growing competitiveness of cricket in Kohima.

This year’s tournament not only highlighted the skill and spirit of the players but also the growing stature of cricket in Nagaland, offering an excellent platform for local talent to shine on professional-grade grounds, according to KDCA.
