Elite Cricket Club Kohima holds foundation day 2022

Kohima, July 27 (MExN): The foundation day cum annual picnic of the Elite Cricket Club (ECC) was held at the Dzu-u Resort Rüsoma. 

The ECC media cell in a press release stated that while addressing the gathering Mengu Sakhrie, President, ECC said the Club was formed primarily to promote the game of Cricket and provide opportunities and platforms for young and budding Cricketers from Kohima and the rest of the State. 

Stressing the need for the members to be more focused and work even harder, Sakhrie said that Kohima once a strong Cricketing District and a major contributor of Nagaland Cricket, seems to be progressing a little slow lately and  lacking is behind few other districts.  

Sakhrie said that cricket today offers good career opportunity and needs to be taken seriously, he added, “our own Naga boys and girls are earning very well and in terms lakh of rupees in a single playing season which last for about 3-4 months.” He further said the Kohima based player are yet to take the full advantage of this and therefore it's time to  work harder and also spread awareness and the good news among the Cricket fraternity around us.

ECC, General Secretary, Keviselhou Sekhose revealed that the Elite Cricket Club plans to open a  Cricket Academy in Kohima soon and will also encourage and promote girls/women’s Cricket in Kohima District.
