The first open volleyball tournament, organised by Elite Frontier Club, got underway today with L Sethricho Sangtam, Executive Chairman, Kiphire Area Students’ Union, gracing the inaugural session as special guest.
Speaking at the program, the special guest called upon the team to be disciplined, sincere and truthful in all events. He also appealed to the team members to focus on sports as a professional career as there were ample opportunities being provided in all institutions. Congratulating the organisers, the special guest further called upon the organisers and other like-minded groups to guide the youths so as their talents can be utilised for better puposes.
A total of 16 teams under Kiphire district are taking part in the tournament.
The winners will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 30000, first runners up with Rs 20000 and all Semi finalist teams will receive Rs 2500 each. Individual awards for best setter, spiker and disciplined team will also be handed out.
