ENCSU highlights land encroachment at Sao Chang College

Tuensang, September 26 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) while raising the issue of land encroachment at the Sao Chang College in Tuensang, underscored that at least 10 acres of land has been lost to illegal encroachment.

In a press release on Sunday, the Union informed that it had initiated a spot verification exercise on September 25 with the Tuensang district administration, Confederation of Chang Students’ Union, authorities of C-Khel Tuensang Village, college authorities and college students’ council, during which it was found that many private parties were encroaching the land of the college

The release stated that the survey map of Directorate of Higher Education, in the year 1992, indicated that the college had land measuring 48.24 acres. However, at present approximately only 38 acres are left due to illegal encroachment.

Stating that it was disheartened to see the illegal encroachment, the union pointed out that the loss of land had resulted in loss of developmental activities for the College which is one of the oldest colleges in Eastern Nagaland.

As such, the ENCSU appealed to all the stakeholders as well as the general public to cooperate with the Union till the issue comes to an end. It also expressed gratitude to the District Administration, C-Khel Tuensang village, CCSU, college authorities and all the individuals for their support towards the Union.
