Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENNWA), during an ‘emergency meeting’ held on April 21 at Khehoyi Designated Camp, “unanimously” resolved to appoint new office bearers.
The House unanimously elected NT Yamthong Kilonser as Chairman and F Pongba Konyak as Secretary for the 2025–2028 tenure, stated a press release received here.
The meeting also officially reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and working collaboratively under the effective leadership of President Maj (Rtd) RM Lotha and Ato Kilonser N Kitovi, it added.
Accordingly, it rejected a “purported statement” issued in the media under the name ENNWA on April 18, which reportedly stated that the recent ‘Ceasefire Agreement between the Government of India and GPRN/NSCN (N. Kitovi)’ is invalid and inapplicable within the Eastern Naga territories.
The nomenclature ENNWA applies to all national workers serving under different groups, and one particular group cannot claim it solely, as it may hurt the sentiments of the ENPO people. The statement, therefore, shows a lack of political reasoning, the release maintained.
It further stated that the Government of India had invited the Kitovi group to sign the Ceasefire Agreement, and they should work according to the ceasefire ground rules throughout Nagaland.
The release also encouraged all peace-loving citizens, particularly those in the ENPO (Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation) regions, to remain vigilant regarding potentially misleading statements, noting that their slogan is “Unity first and Solution second.”
