ENPO, KU laud approval for Mon medical college

Mon, September 5 (MExN):  Following the Central government’s approval for a medical college in Mon district, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) extended gratitude to the Government of India, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, H&FW Minister S Pangnyu Phom and the state H&FW department for their efforts.

On behalf of the people of the 6 tribes- Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchunger, the ENPO appreciated the move to upgrade the District Hospital Mon to a full-fledged government medical college.

“The approval of a new medical college was a long felt need of the people of Eastern Nagaland in particular and the Nagas in general, and a deep, keen and helpful interest to the plight and welfare of the underdeveloped and underprivileged ENPO region by the centre and the state government is highly appreciated,” the ENPO wrote.

The Organization  further requested the political executives, bureaucrats, technocrats and contractors for a concerted effort and assured ‘unflinching support’ of the people of Eastern Nagaland towards the fulfillment of the long cherished dream.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Konyak Union also acknowledged the Central government and the Nagaland State government for the ‘timely’ initiative.

Expressing gratitude for identifying Mon district for the “remarkable chapter of development”, the Union especially thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Pangnyu Phom, Minister, Health and Family Welfare.

“This landmark decision by the Union government will pave ways for the general benefit and development of the district as well as neighbouring districts and states,” the Union said.

The KU assured assistance, coordination and ‘necessary protection’ for smooth and early execution of construction works and completion.

The Union further acknowledged the Chi Village Council and its citizens for allowing land for construction of the said Medical College and requested their continued cooperation.
