ENPO reiterates peace declaration

Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has reiterated the declaration for cessation of hostilities in the eastern areas of the state as declared during December 18, 2007. A note from the ENPO received here today stated that the organization met on March 23 and reaffirmed the resolution. The meeting was attended by leaders of all the organization’s units as well as “ENNWA, NSCN/GPRN (K) ENNWA, GPRN/NSCN (Kholi-Kitovi) ENNWU NSCN/GPRN (IM) NNC (FGN) of the six tribes of eastern Nagaland and NNC (non-accordist) of the six regions of ENPO jurisdiction.”    

The organization is grateful for the cooperation and restraint demonstrated by all the “eastern Naga national political groups” despite “some unfortunate stray incidents.” The organization urged for complete restraint and cessation of all forms of violence in the areas keeping in mind the ‘unquestionable wishes’ of the people.
