ENSF asks teachers to withdraw court case

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has asked all “trained pre-service teachers” from the 4 districts of eastern areas of Nagaland to immediately withdraw within 7 days from the “court case on the issue of teachers’ recruitment 2012.”

The ENSF issued a press release today stating that the organization has been taking up the issue with the department and the Nagaland Government. However, the ENSF said, “due to the pending court case, the matter could not be amicably resolved as the department and the government is also handicapped in resolving the issue as the matter lies in the court.”

“The court case has also further hampered the processing of additional teacher posts agreed upon in principle between the State government and ENSF on February 2012 to compensate the shortage of teachers caused due to transferred-along with posts in the past decades,” the ENSF said. The department and the government has agreed to restore “these shortages” by creating additional teacher posts meant for eastern Nagaland, the organization said. “However this could not be materialized still since the department and the State government could not submit the utilization certifications to the ministry concern because of the present imbroglio in the court.”

The ENF did not say in its press releases what or which department and ministry were being referred to.

The organization said the “directive” has become necessary and the “prolonging of the court case” is having a “very negative impact in our areas as the schools are running without proper and requisite teachers.”

“Failure to adhere to this directive, the ENSF and the general public of the 4 districts will hold the appellants responsible for ruining the careers of the innocent students who are in their formative and moulding stage and also lost of employment opportunities.”
