DIMAPUR, MAY 30 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has written to the Chief Engineer, Power Department calling for rectification of the advertisement put up by the department with regard to recruitment for the post of LDA-cum-Computer Assistant.

The ENSF in its letter issued by Shahsha L Menhahu, Vice President and Topongchuba Chang, Assistant General Secretary pointed out that as per the Office Memorandum No. ATR/Gen-189/2008 Dated Kohima, the 8th June 2010, the Government of Nagaland had relaxed the educational qualification for the backward tribes for direct recruitment to the post of LDAs in the Directorate and District offices, subject to the a few conditions.

This included that the educational qualification for the post of LDA-Cum-Computer Assistant will be 10+2 passed; that the relaxation will be for the period of 5(five) years from the date of issue of the office memo and that those candidates who were appointed under this relaxation will have to acquire computer proficiency within 2(two) years.

However, the ENSF pointed out that as per the Departmental Advertisement NO: CEL/DSC/341/1077-100 dated Kohima the 7th May 2013 the minimum requisite qualification for the post of LDA-cum- Computer Assistant have been prescribed as Graduate with Computer knowledge, as a result of which the applications of those candidates from the 6 backward tribes of the Eastern Nagaland have been rejected by the department which is contrary to the Government Notification as stated above.

Therefore, the Federation requested the Chief Engineer to immediately rectify the above matter through corrigendum and thereafter enough time be given to the applicants of the 6 (six) backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland for the submission of application.

Further the Federation has reminded all Departments to strictly follow the partial modification of the Office Memorandum No. AR-8/19/84 Dated 16th March 2006 and No. AR-3/ Gen-189 Dated 2nd March 2010 while conducting recruitment to the post of LDAs in the Directorate as well as District offices for the Six (6) Backward Tribes of Eastern Nagaland.
