ENSF serves ‘final letter’ to CM on Nagaland Staff Selection Board

Cautions of another indefinite agitation

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on February 24 served an ultimatum to the Nagaland Chief Minister to address the “genuine demand” placed by Federation within 30 days.

The ultimatum appended by ENSF, President, Chingmak Chang and Assistant General Secretary, Kaibo Konyak said that the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) 2020 does not serve the interest of the aspirants across the state in its present form and that the Federation has advocated to pursue discontentment by submitting numerous representation and ultimatum ever since the first draft contents on NSSB was rolled out.

The Federation stated that there is an apprehension that if the NSSB has to function as per the present draft modalities, it will not serve any purpose and that the dreams of the aspirants will be hampered drastically and the very motive for constituting the NSSB would be defeated even before it starts functioning.

Accordingly, the Federation has submitted numerous representations entailing the common interest of the Nagas whereby it was reiterated time and again to include all the exempted departments and posts under NSSB ambit without any exceptions, it stated.

The Federation said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to expedite the process. “However, much to the disillusionment of the Federation, the constitution of the committee has generated nothing and has lukewarm result,” it stated.

“Inspite of the Federation’s firm stand against the NSSB in its present form, the P&AR department came up with the advertisement for the post of Chairman and Member of NSSB superseding and suppressing the interest of the Nagas which is a blatant insult to the Federation in particular and the aspirant Nagas in general. The same was done for the post of Secretary Cum-Controller of examination,” it alleged.

It is crystal clear that the state government’s motive is much more on kick start the functioning of NSSB than lending ears to the genuine demands of the Federation. Hence, the Federation shall not accept the functioning of NSSB in its present form.

Therefore, the Federation has made the request to the CM to pursue the matter at hand and embrace the aspiration and interest of the general Nagas by coming to term with the charter of demands being put forth time and again.

“This is the final letter of reiteration which will be made on our part. In the event of failure the federation shall be propelled to launch another indefinite agitation. Subsequently, if any unfortunate incident ensued following the agitation, the state government shall be held fully responsible,” it cautioned.
