ENSUD exposes job fraud

DIMAPUR, MAY 23 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Students Union Delhi (ENSUD) today made strong allegation against one Among Ao of Longjang village for fraudulent dealings in extracting money with the false promise of jobs in private companies. It was informed that Among Ao who is a resident of Dimapur lured people of Tuensang district to Delhi on the pretext of offering them jobs and collecting at least Rs. 12000 to 15000/- from each individual.

The release issued by the President of ENSUD, Longthai Phom revealed that on reaching Delhi, these people were registered in some private agency and sent to various places like Chhatisgarh, Gurgaon and parts of Orissa. They were then employed in factories and mines where they were forced to do cheap labour for a meager payment of about Rs. 1000 to 1500 a month.

It was further revealed that their documents were taken from them and were not given proper place to stay. “They had no food to eat for days. They had to sleep on the mosquito-infested terrace for nights. And as if this was not enough, they were forced to work overtime on double shifts”, stated the ENSUD.

The union further stated that three of the victims namely, Bendang Chang s/o Nokshu of Yangpi village, Mangba Chang s/o Akhang of Chandang village and Hongsa s/o Wangto of Tuensang village were able to escape from the factories and somehow reach Nagaland House at R.K Puram, Delhi. It was from them that the union had come to learn of the case and the ENSUD along with some well wishers had arranged tickets and sent them home on the May 21.

The union called on all right-thinking citizens, organizations and individuals to condemn the motive of Among Ao, requesting them to take stern action against the culprit.

Stating that the whereabouts of at least three others were still unknown the union added that it was difficult to ascertain how many more people Among must have sent for jobs elsewhere. Unable to comprehend the terrible conditions of those who still had not returned, the union requested everyone to pray for their safe return.

The ENSUD also requested the higher authorities to look into the matter very seriously immediately else the union cautioned to take the matter in own hands.
