Demands linkage to EPIC, CCTV coverage and live recording during polls
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 24 (MExN): The Langpangkong Students’ Conference Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKM CECC) has submitted a representation to the Election Commission of India through the Chief Election Officer (CEO), Nagaland today in order to ensure free and fair election in Langpangkong Range under Mokokchung district in particular and Nagaland state in general.
A press note from the committee informed that during discussion with the CEO, he assured the LKM CECC to provide CCTV and live recording facilities during the forthcoming election in the assembly constituencies under Langpangkong range in particular and Nagaland state as a whole.
In its representation, the LKM CECC demanded Aadhaar linkage to EPIC, CCTV coverage and live recording during election in Nagaland.
It pointed out that despite efforts by the ECI, election-mal practices still continues in Nagaland in particular and country as a whole which makes the principle and objective of good governance a mockery after every election.
Stating that there has been “tremendous corruption and mal-practices during elections” in 21 Tuli A/C, 22 Arkakong A/C and 24 Angetyongpang A/C under the Langpangkong range for the past several years, the LKM had adopted a strong resolution to initiate Clean Election Campaign in the range. Consequently, the LKM CECC was constituted to educate on a corrupt-free election and check electoral offences.
“Despite the effort of LKM CECC in educating people on clean election, multiple and bogus entries of voters in electoral roll, impersonation of voters, tampering of EVMs/Ballot Papers, booth capturing, illegal hiring or procuring of conveyances and several other such offences and misconduct at the polling stations likely to continue unless the competent authority adopts certain effective measure immediately to prevent such illegal electoral practices,” the representation stated.
It therefore asked the ECI to immediately initiate the process of Aadhar linkage to EPIC, provide CCTV coverage and live recording in all the polling stations in the above cited three Assembly Constituencies in particular and Nagaland in general.
