The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Nagaland University, Kohima, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EDP) at Sazolie College.

KOHIMA, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Nagaland University, Kohima, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EDP) at Sazolie College under the project “Establish, develop and manage Entrepreneurship Development Centre(EDC) and Incubation Centre (IC) in the educational Institute of North-Eastern Region”.
Principal of Sazolie College addressed the gathering, emphasizing the current job market's saturation. He encouraged participants to shift their focus towards entrepreneurship, encouraging them to become job providers rather than job seekers.
Dr Dhrubajyoti Bordoloi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Nagaland University, delivered the introductory speech. He highlighted that the available schemes are sponsored by the North Eastern Council, the funding organization for the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship.
Out of the 8 states in the North East, 30 institutions have been selected as Entrepreneurship Development Centres, with 4 of them located in Nagaland. They include Nagaland Mini Tool Room & Training Centre in Dimapur, Nagaland University in Kohima, Sao Chang College in Tuensang, and Wangkhao Government College in Mon. He also said that one of the reasons for unemployment in the state is because of the lack of skills and so there is a need for improvement in skills for the students.
The selected participants will undergo a rigorous 5-day Entrepreneurship Development Program at the EDC, Nagaland University. This program is designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress further in their entrepreneurial journey.
Prof Kh. Devananda Singh, Head of the Department of Management at Nagaland University, led the technical session, emphasizing the importance of adopting a changed mindset to become a successful entrepreneur and achieve financial independence. He explained that the main objective of the program is to discuss project ideas and business plans, assessing their visibility, viability, and sustainability. Prof Singh encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship, as it not only creates jobs but also contributes to societal development, which can only be achieved through self-sufficiency.
Jonna Mozhui, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Sazolie College, delivered the exhortation. He expressed that this was a remarkable opportunity for the participants, and the college is grateful to have been selected as part of the program.
A total of 32 participants registered for the program, presenting their project ideas and plans to resource persons from the Department of Management, Nagaland University. These ideas were further discussed during the business session.
