Er. Albert Ovung must apologize

The article ‘The Moderate Nagas and the Underground’ written by Er. Albert Ovung which appeared in ‘The Morung Express’ on 7th October, 2012 was so lengthy and so much filthy. The article was filled with mistakes and lies. It is an insult to the Naga people as a whole and the Naga Nation. And also it is a direct challenge to NNC/FGN and national workers who have truly sacrificed their precious lives for the nation and who are still working for the nation with life and death.

Therefore, few facts are given here to open the eyes of Er. Albert Ovung:

1.  The Naga people constituted the Naga National Council (NNC) on 2nd February, 1946 to safeguard the sovereign independence and freedom of the Nagas as a nation. The Naga people never constituted the Naga Guerrilla group, Underground, Faction or else as he stated.

2. The Naga people constitutionally established the Federal Government of Nagaland(FGN) on 22nd March, 1956 through a federation to govern the Naga territories at the extent of the Yehzabo (Constitution) of Nagaland. Thus an International Ceasefire Agreement was signed between the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) and the Government of India (GOI) in 1964 and which was effected from 6th September, 1964. The Indo-Naga Ceasefire Agreement was signed between the two governments (FGN and GOI) and not in between the GOI and Naga Guerrillas, Underground or Faction.

3. The NNC and FGN are constitutionally two entities. The NNC is NNC, FGN is FGN and Er. Albert Ovung is Er. Albert Ovung. If Ovung is afraid of India or if he does not know the truth and reality of the Naga Nation, he must not speak or write anymore about the nation. Otherwise it will be unfortunate for him.

4. Kughato Sukhai was the Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) of the FGN. He never held the post of Kedahge (President) of FGN as Ovung said.

5. T. Aliba Imti was the first President of NNC and not Imti Aliba.

6. A.Z. Phizo was the President of NNC from 28th December, 1950 to 30th April, 1990. He never joined any guerilla group, underground, faction or militancy’ A.Z. Phizo is the father of the Naga Nation. The distance between A.Z. Phizo and Ovung is thousands and thousand Kilomitres.

7. NNC along with the Naga people formally declared the Naga Independence on 14th August, 1947 at Mission Compound, Kohima, Nagaland. Thus the Naga nation has been celebrating the 14th August as National Independence Day every year since 1947. It was not declared in India as Ovung stated.

8. NNC and the Naga people rejected the first and second general election of India in 1952 and in 1957 respectively. It was not a boycott.

Hence Er. Albert Ovung must apologize to NNC/FGN and withdraw his article, lest the angers and curses of the martyred souls shall fall on him.
