Dimapur, February 5 (MExN): Michael Dias, member of Employee's State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) during his visit to Dimapur on February 3 announced that ESIC will be giving an amount of Rs. 40 lakh annually for the operation of the ESI (Scheme) dispensary in Dimapur. Dias met State officials of Labour Department, Nungshiyanger Aier, Labour Commissioner, Avile Vitso, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kohima, and Imlisashi Jamir, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Dimapur along with other stakeholders of the Corporation. Detail discussion was held with regard to the improvement of ESI services in Dimapur, according to a press release received here. Dr. Z. Kheshito Zhimo, AMO, informed that the State government has approved the proposal for appointment of staffs at the dispensary. He mentioned that the ESIC was implemented in Dimapur on March 1, 2008. It was attached to the District Hospital Dimapur and 8 beds were reserved for IPs and their beneficiaries. Subsequently, in August 2012, the dispensary was shifted to 4th Mile and in November 2015, tie-up arrangements were made with Dimapur Hospital & Research Centre for Primary and Secondary Care. The total number of IPs till date is1463 and the number of OPD patients who have attended the dispensary till date is 930, he added. Dr. Hareshwar Meeitei, Sr. State Medical Commissioner, Guwahati said that some medical re-imbursement payments are pending with him. He assured to expedite clearance of the payments in the next few weeks. Nungshiyanger Aier, Labour Commissioner, requested the Corporation for expansion of the scheme to Chumukedima area, where large numbers of industries, shops and establishments, schools, and construction companies are established. He also requested the Regional Office, Guwahati to conduct regular awareness programmes and also to provide information regarding ESI services brouchers and programmes.
