Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The 4-day Professional Skills Development (PSD) programme is getting familiar to many departments. The programme was conceptualised and designed to motivate officers to be professionals and to work SMARTER. “Government officers, church workers, school and college faculty, etc are beginning to understand the usefulness of this course and requests are reaching to us,” states a YouthNet press release.

From April 23 to 26, PDS programme was facilitated for the Establishment Branch of Evaluation at the Directorate Conference room. This programme was received by 21 members from Mon, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Phek, Wokha, Kohima and Dimapur. The 4-day programme focused on self-confidence and motivation, effective communication, golden mean (personal and work balance), assertiveness (saying no to unimportant tasks), personal grooming and social etiquette, managing conflicts in the workplace, problem solving and decision making (borrowed from facilitation tutor, USA).

The facilitator Talichila Imchen, Consultant at YouthNet, believes that a team performs best when they have visionary leaders leading in the frontline and when everyone works towards a common goal. She commented that she was touched by the participants’ enthusiasm and interactions, their response to this programme, and the interest taken by this department to groom its staff. YouthNet expressed gratitude to Kevileno Angami, OSD Planning and Ex Officio Director Evaluation for her interest and supporting in making these programme happen.
