Along with the rest of the world, Mon District observed World AIDs Day at District Hospital, Mon under the theme ‘Right to Health’ on December 1, 2017.
Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Thavaseelan K, Deputy Commissioner who is also the chairperson of DAPCU, Mon pointed out that Nagaland stood 4th in HIV/AIDS prevalence in India and therefore said it was everyone’s responsibility to take care and help the HIV/AIDS community in the state and Mon district in particular.
“We should ensure help, love and respect in every possible ways we can. As of now, the only possible ways to check and control HIV/AIDS is awareness, prevention, enhancement of life for the patients and accessibility of whatever treatment is available for the HIV/AIDS community,” the DC stressed.
Lemei K, Miss Mon 2016, the District Icon spoke on ‘I Care.’ Lemie in her address urged all to lend their unconditional love, respect, help and support to the PLHIV community.
Neiko Kanou, District & Session Judge, Mon said that deprivation of proper medical treatment is a deprivation of legal rights where the Constitution of India has given everyone the right.
Dr. Ngampa also spoke on HIV prevention & care, Longyim Tzudir DPO, DAPCU gave the keynote address.
