Dimapur (MExN): Documentary evidence has suggested that the three Nigerians under Police custody in East Police Station, Dimapur had earlier furnished false information. According to the seized passports, the three go by the names of Chedozie Martins Ngomah, Alagie Sawaneh and Sunday Elealaku. One of the accused has also been caught with a Gambian passport while he claims that his passport was lost. Superintendent of Police, Bidhu Shekhar, while confiding to The Morung Express, said that they have in possession evidence which establishes beyond doubt that the trio is responsible for criminal acts. Copies of fake passports and the e-mail which points towards the attempted fraud against a Bashikato Achumi by Martins were made available. Earlier, the SP had scanned the passports under ultra violet rays and had found them to be counterfeit. Police sources have confirmed that the three were in possession of photocopies of passports belonging to others. The suspected brown sugar which was in possession of the three will be forwarded for examining purposes.
Earlier, when this reporter visited the accused in their cell, they had to say that they were falsely implicated and had also been subject to beatings. The prisoners also said that they had not been allowed to make a single phone call or to contact their embassy.
Sources further revealed that if the Nigerian High Commission does not intervene in the case through the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the three will be produced in court for legal proceedings. If they are found to be guilty, they will be put to jail and later deported when they complete their terms.
