Kohima, March 25 (MExN): A five-member delegation of the Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) visited the Legislative Assemblies of neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya from March 16 to 22, to exchange experiences and strengthen inter-state cooperation.
The delegation comprised John Konyak, former MLA and Vice-President, Ex-PAN; Neiba Ndang, former Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Advisor, Ex-PAN; Kashiho Sangtam, former Minister and Ex-PAN Executive; Eshak Konyak, former MLA and Ex-PAN Executive; and R Tohanba, former MLA and Ex-PAN Executive.
The team was entrusted by Ex-PAN to meet and interact with Speakers, officials and former parliamentarians in the respective states to share experiences and learn how their counterparts—particularly former legislators—are contributing to public service. The delegation discussed common issues and exchanged insights on challenges and best practices.
During the visit, the members shared experiences and challenges faced by Ex-PAN in Nagaland and also gained valuable understanding of how similar bodies function in neighbouring states. Besides highlighting both challenges and successes, the delegation deliberated on working more cohesively towards nation-building and supporting each other’s concerns to further strengthen bonds among the North-Eastern states.
Ex-PAN expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Speakers and officials of the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya for their support and assistance, stating that the hospitality extended exceeded expectations. The association described the reception as humbling and said it remained indebted for the respect and honour accorded to its members.
The association also conveyed gratitude to the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, and the Assembly for extending financial and logistical support, which enabled the successful conduct of the first-ever exposure tour of Ex-PAN.
Ex-PAN said it looks forward to continued collaboration with the Speaker and the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to work not only for the welfare of its members but also for the people of the state.
