Kohima, June 12 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Agriculture, Dr.Chumben Murry graced the general session of the Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung (KLEE) as the chief guest today, the 12th June 2010, at the Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima.
Addressing the Lotha women of Kohima Town, Dr. Chumben challenged them to examine their place in the global scenario. "Where is your place in the global scenario?" he asked. He was of the opinion that, the Kohima Lotha women are placed in a better position because of the fact that they are exposed to the broader concept of education and development and encouraged them for contributions for the betterment of the society.
With the advancement in the field of IT, development needs of children are also rising and therefore, the role of a woman has become very vital, he said. Dr. Murry also asked the Lotha Women to participate in the Road Shows in all the districts of Nagaland besides Wokha, so that they could learn more about the potentialities and development of various districts of the State.
Women leader Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, W. Nyanchumi Kithan invoked God's blessings for the new team of office bearers led by Z. Arhoni Kikon. In the programme, the KLEE also felicitated the meritorious students of HSLC and HSSLC, Mhashumi Ezung (Meghalaya Board) and Mhayani (NBSE).
Cuckoo Cultural Club Kohima, added more colour to the programme by presenting a folk song. The inaugural programme was chaired by President KLEE, Z.Arhoni Kikon , who also proposed the vote of thanks while V.President KLEE .Thungbeni Kikon delivered the welcome address.
In the second session, various agendas including originality of traditional attires, carrying out charity works and action to be taken against any Lotha women residing in Kohima town, who indulges in undesirable and immoral activities, were discussed.
