Exhibition marks National Science Day at St John College

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The Science Club of St. John College, Dimapur organised science exhibition to celebrate National Science Day on the theme ‘Science for the people and the people for science.’


The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony with Peter Banks, Administrator, St. John College inaugurating the event, the College stated in a press release.


Some of the exhibited title-based models were DNA working model, effect on lungs by smoking, plastic pollution, structure of benzene, linkages of environment and economy, DC generator model, bonding and shapes of organic molecules etc. Painting and quiz competitions were also conducted concurrently. The painting was based on the topic, ‘Man’s advancement in science and technology and its impact.’


All staffs and students attended the event to witness the various title-based models exhibited by the students from Science and Economics departments. Judges for the science exhibition were Peter Banks, Dr. Puhar Daimari, Department of Botany and Rahul Kr Sarmah Department of Chemistry.

Judges for the painting/poster competition were Imnuksungla, Department of Education and Kamubuibo, Department of English respectively. Winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.

PHSS Scientific Club presents various activities

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): To commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect by the great Indian Physicist Sir C V Raman, Pilgrim Higher Secondary School observed National Science Day on February 28 at the Chapel Hall on the theme ‘Science for the People and People for Science’.
The School in a press release stated that the students of the Scientific Club presented varied science activities where they went on to explain with the help of working models on Volcanic Eruption, Earthquake tremor using battery, solar system, science tricks, decorative pieces based on ‘3Rs’, slideshow on recycling and a short skit on global warming.
The school also felicitated some student participants who were placed first in the recently concluded one day workshop on ‘explore the possibilities – reduce and reuse’ held at Science Centre Dimapur.
