NEW DELHI, JUNE 1 (MExN): A group art exhibition titled "From Eight With Art", featuring works by contemporary artists from all eight northeastern states of India, is set to open at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi on May 30. The show is a joint initiative by the IIC and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and aims to spotlight the region’s vibrant and diverse artistic voices.
Curated by Sentila Yanger, a prominent advocate for indigenous and contemporary art from the Northeast, the exhibition will run from May 30 to June 5, 2025, at the IIC Annexe Art Gallery in Lodhi Estate. It will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The artists featured in the show are: Pill Reniya (Arunachal Pradesh), Sujit Das (Assam), Millan Laishram (Manipur), Phaibhakuphar Kharlukhi (Meghalaya), Lalhming Mawii aka Amoii (Mizoram), Vineizotuo Tase (Nagaland), Karma Tenrab (Sikkim), and Mrinnmoy Debbarma (Tripura).
In a statement, organizers said the exhibition is part of a broader cultural partnership between the IIC and DoNER to amplify the artistic narratives of a region that remains underrepresented in India’s mainstream art scene.
The exhibition will feature a diverse range of visual styles—from bold contemporary forms to nuanced reinterpretations of traditional motifs—offering viewers a glimpse into the evolving cultural and creative landscape of Northeast India.
