Mokokchung, November 18 (MExN): The Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung had a time of reflection and strengthened its resolve to further support the rights of Persons With Disabilities through the powerful talk delivered by Diethono Nakhro on November 17, 2017. She is the recipient of the, “Lemontree Helen Keller Award” in 2015 in the category of “Role Model Person with Disability” and a leading voice for disability rights in Nagaland. She highlighted on the lack of understanding and sensitivity towards people with disabilities. This category of special people is not demanding extra rights but the same rights which the normal people enjoy. They cannot go to public offices, markets or churches because of inaccessibility. She further urged the gathering to be agents of change by being more sensitive to the needs of the people with disabilities and to nurture an inclusive society by having active participation from all its citizens. Amongla N Jamir, Asst Prof, FAC Mokokchung in a press release said that altogether 200 students and faculty members participated in the programme.
