Fake journalist arrested in Aizawl

AIZAWL | March 11 : A man was arrested in Aizawl by the police for demanding money while disguising himself as a journalist from a bureaucrat.
 Rozarliana (27) s/o. CT Luaia, of Ramhlun Vengthar hailing from Aizawl was arrested by the police for attempting to extort money from the director of Mizoram Sericulture department.
 Rozarliana who claimed himself as a news reporter of Vanglaini, Mizoram’s largest circulated vernacular daily, had demanded Rs.5000 from the state Sericulture Director in exchange for discarding the press release of an organisation that contains severe allegations against the Sericulture department.
  Rozarliana had asked Rs 5000 from the Sericulture director through a landline telephone at around 7 pm last Tuesday saying he could discard the press release of one  association containing serious allegations against the Sericulture department. An agreement was made to hand over the money on Wednesday at the office of the director.
 On Wednesday morning, the director contacted the office of the Vanglaini requesting to send of their reporters  to his office. At the slated time, fake reporter Rozarliana was called to get the sum of money at the director’s office and he was arrested immediately by the waiting police personnel after having been verified by the genuine reporter of Vanglaini who dismissed Rozarliana as a fake reporter. A case was registered at Bawngkawn Police Station in this connection against Rozarliana.
