Familiarization Exercises in Nagaland underway

KOHIMA, April 14 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and logistic support from the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMA) has been conducting Familiarization Exercises (FEMEX) in various districts of Nagaland.   The FEMEX was earlier conducted in Longleng district by a team of 32 personnel from the 12Bn NDRF, Arunachal Pradesh. Presently the exercise is being conducted in Wokha district. The same will also be conducted in Zunheboto district. The NDRF team consists of 46 personnel from the 12th Battalion.   The FEMEX features amongst others, basic first aid, search and rescue, mock drills etc Besides this the NSDMA has conducted Community First Responder (CFR) in all the districts of the State. The CFR is based on the understanding that in times of disasters the community is the first to respond before external help arrives. The CFR training is aimed at empowering the community to help themselves and to be prepared for any disaster.

  Mention may be made here that the NSDMA has also successfully rise the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) comprising of 240 personnel from the Civil Defence and Home Guards. These personnel have been trained to handle any disasters that the State might face.   This was stated in a press release issued by Khrienuo Metha, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland.
