Farmers attend awareness programme on govt schemes

Medziphema, June 7 (MExN): A farmers’ awareness programme on government schemes for horticulture development was organized at CIH, Medziphema on June 7.  

The programme was graced by Dr. Venkatesh N Hubballi, Director, Directorate of Cashew & Cocoa Development, Kochi. In his address, Dr. Venkatesh mentioned that the training is a good platform for the farmers to be aware of government schemes meant for horticulture development and understand the procedures to avail it. He also highlighted on the prospects of Cashew in North East and he encouraged the farmers for Cashew cultivation.  

Earlier, Director CIH, Dr. NK Patle welcomed all the farmers in the training and he highlighted on the activities and programmes of the Institute. The resource persons of the training were H C Biswas, Asst. General Manager, NABARD, Dimapur, Dr. Moa Walling, Dy. Director, Dept. of Horticulture, Nagaland & C Nyekha, President, FPO Dimapur and they delivered lectures on the topic ‘leveraging growth through agricultural credit’, ‘schemes for horticulture development under MIDH’ and ‘formation and functioning of FPOs’ respectively.  

A total of 54 farmers from Dimapur and Kohima districts attended the training programme. It was coordinated by Prabin, Marketing Specialist and vote of thanks was delivered by Tokivi Zhimomi, Sr. Technical Assistant.
