Changtongya, May 17 (MExN): A one day farmers-scientists interaction programme was successfully conducted at Changtongya Village under Mokokchung district on May 16 which was attended by more than fifty SHG farmer members. The resource persons were Dr Renbemo from KVK Yisemyong, Samuel (SMS, Yisemyong) and Dr Aoyimsen from the Veterinary Department. The programme was conducted by ATMA Mokokchung as part of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSLRM).
The participating farmers were educated on livestock management like piggery, crop management and value addition of fruit produce.
“This is one of the first of its kind programme initiated in Changtongya village. With this training, the ATMA and NSLRM aim to educate the framers to cultivate their farms in a more productive manner,” Takalemba Jamir, DFS (NSLRM), RD Changtongya Block said in a press release.
Changtongya village area, which is one of the most fertile areas under Mokokchung district, has huge potentials for cultivation of cash crops like bananas and pineapples. The area also holds huge potentials for pig and other livestock farms.
