Longleng, March 2 (MExN): A one day farmers training sponsored by Phom Gazetted Officers’Association was held at Pongo village under Longleng districts on February 26. The training was conducted for farmers of Pongo and Hongnyu villages, stated a press release from Pongo Village Council Chairman Chungpa Phom and Hongnyu Village Council Chairman B Punga Phom.
The resource persons were B Nyenghong Phom, DAO Mon; C Bhupom, Phom, DHO Longleng; and Amei Phom AO Longleng. Their presentations dwelled on different topics such as “sustainable practices for efficient Jhum cultivation; packages of practices of fruits and vegetables cultivation, improved methods of weed free Jhum cultivation. Earlier, in the plenary session, B Aphak Phom Deacon pronounced the invocation and Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung exhorted the trainees. Ango Phom, a farmer from Yongam village also shared his experiences of farming. Key note address of the training was given by B Nyenghong Phom President PGOA.
