
Kohima, February 13 (MExN): The Designated Officer (Food Safety) in the Chief Medical Officer’s office, Kohima, has notified all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to either obtain or renew their licence/registration certificate.
The process can be completed online through www.foscos.fssai.gov.in or by approaching the CMO Office, Food Safety Section, Paramedical Colony, for assistance, the notification stated.
In this connection, food safety officials will be conducting inspections and issuing notices, it informed.
The FBOs must obtain the required licence/registration certificate within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notice, it added.
As per the notification, Section 31 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, and Regulations 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of 2.1 Food Safety and Standards (Licensing & Registration of Food Businesses), Regulations, 2011, stipulate that all Food Business Operators (FBOs) must be registered or licensed under the Act and Regulations.
“Failure to comply will be an offence and punishable under Sections 58 and 63 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006,” it added.
