F&CS create awareness to clear myth of plastic rice

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The Food & Civil Supplies Department in collaboration with PATH organised an awareness programme on Fortified Rice at Conference Hall, Directorate of F&CS, Dimapur on July 5. 

An update from the department stated that the programme was conducted for the District Officer (s) on Fortified Rice to clear the myth of plastic rice and to generate awareness amongst the NFSA beneficiaries in their respective district(s) about Rice Fortification being implemented in the State. The awareness has been meticulously planned to enhance the understanding of the Fortified Rice and its impact on the overall health and wellbeing of the general population, it stated. 

The resource persons Shanpanthung Ezung, STO, PATH gave an in-depth knowledge of Fortified Rice through PowerPoint presentation and Samuel Zehol, Designated Officer, Food Safety Administration (Dimapur Zone) also presented the technical aspects of Fortified Rice. With in-depth knowledge of rice fortified (technically, and in lay man terminology) they were entrusted to disseminate the message that as per the directive of the Ministry all the districts in the State are to be covered with fortified Rice in phase-wise manner with a target to cover with 100% Fortified Rice by March 2024.

Earlier, Lanutoshi Jamir, Addl. Director F&CS, welcomed all the district officers and the resource persons. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from K Mhonthung, Deputy Director, F&CS, Nagaland.
