Bru voters to exercise franchise in Mizoram

  Newmai News Network Aizawl | September 7   According to the final electoral roll published on September 27, there are 7, 68,181 voters in Mizoram which is 1.14 per cent (8,662 more voters) over the last voters list published in January this year.   The State Chief Electoral Officer SB Shashank told reporters on Thursday that female voters outnumbered their male voters by 19,189. There are 3,93,685 female voters against 3,74,496 male voters in all the eight districts of Mizoram.   On publishing the list of voters in eight districts of the state, Shashank mentioned that there are 7,68,181 voters being enrolled and this figure will differ as the roll revision process will  continue till the last day of filing nomination, and accordingly, the figures will be updated every day.   Meanwhile, according to the final roll published by the CEO today, Aizawl district with 14 assembly constituencies has the highest number of voters among eight districts at 2,88,322 followed by Lunglei district at 1,04,930. There were 7 assembly constituencies in Lunglei district. Siaha district in the southern part of the state has the least electorates at 38,843.   Meanwhile, citing the ECI directive, Shashank said that no Bru voters would be allowed to exercise franchise outside Mizoram in the upcoming assembly elections of Mizoram. He added that preparation for the forthcoming election to the 40- member state legislative assembly is going on in full swing.
