FGN for joint effort and understanding

DIMAPUR, August 23 (Mexn): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has called for a joint effort and understanding to achieve national goal stating that in view of the past 25 years of fratricide after partition due to ideological differences and methodical approaches, the ‘differences of opinion and the reluctance to admit our shortcomings (has) proved to be the main ailment of the Nation’.

In a statement issued on the directive of the Kedahge of FGN, Brig.(Retd) S Singnya, the Secretary of Killo (Home ) Affairs, Zaleo, stated that differences in opinion and reluctance to admit shortcomings was the main ailment of the Naga nation. “Now, we need to ponder over the past experiences and bravely come forward to safeguard our nation and project our identity to the outside world so that others do not misunderstand us” it acknowledged. It further stated that in upholding Naga sovereignty, the Naga people had experienced untold hardships which disturbed normal life during the past five decades of conflict and suffering. Under these circumstances the people also saw the “outcropping of alternative ideologies and dissection of our family”.

Keeping in mind this, the statement expressed confidence that “when the element of discord in our family is removed, everyone shall readily work for the cause of freedom which is most noble and for which we braced untold miseries”. It affirmed that the need of the hour was understanding and a joint effort to achieve the goal of the Naga nation. The release pointed out that the primary factor of discord was the Shillong Accord of 1975 which was disowned by the former Kedahge of the FGN Late Zashie Huire on 6th May 1996 and that the incumbent Kedahge Brig. (Retd) S Singnya had taken the right decision to disassociate from the Transit Peace Camp and run a free national government for the cause of the Nation.

Asserting that the Nagas were capable and would strive to establish and protect the Nation by projecting an image others would admire, the release called upon the people to work and preach the message of freedom by coming forward and doing the needful as demanded of them by the nation.
