FGN reacts to NSCN-IM call on sovereignty

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): Strongly reacting to the NSCN-IM’s proclamation to ‘come along if they are for sovereignty,’ the FGN today termed the move of the NSCN (IM) as an intention to deceive the Nagas.

A rejoinder received here from “Lt.” K.K. Lasuh, Naga Army, FGN, stated that the MIP of NSCN (IM) ‘shouted from the top of its voice’ to  “come along if you too are for sovereignty” But at last MIP says “unification/integration is a natural necessity … unification of Naga area under one political umbrella has been the long cherished goal of Nagas, IM group.”

In this regard, the FGN  stated, “so in reality their slogan is ‘come along if you too are for integration.’ Their intention is to deceive the Nagas but even a small boy knows that integration and unification under the Indian Union is not sovereignty”.

Reminding about the role played by the NNC in the Naga political movement, the FGN called upon the NSCN- IM and the cadres of the faction to remember the words of Th. Muivah who, on ‘15th December 2004’ said “the foundation was not laid by the NSCN but by the NNC. Let us understand together again the issue of the Nagas. It is the NNC that give us the leeway, not me nor Isak. It was the NNC, it was Phizo. And who can deny that. The NNC leaders had laid the foundation,” stated the release and commented that the NSCN -IM  general secretary ‘indeed spoke the truth’.

The release further stated that if the NSCN-IM truly says, “at no stage of history any people ever united without a foundation and national principle” then, the NSCN-IM cadres have to choose whether they should remain where there is no foundation or to come to the ‘national foundation,’ which was founded by the NNC.

The FGN also stated that on January 20, 2005 in the 4th consultative meeting at Hebron Camp, Th. Muivah openly told the NSCN-IM cadres “are we to perish together with the NSCN? No that is not possible. Then who will save us?” stated the release.

It may be mentioned that yesterday, on May 22, the NSCN-IM invited all Nagas from ‘different camps’ who are for sovereignty to come along and be a part of the ‘historic reconciliation’.

FGN clarifies on Nishena’s death

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): The FGN today clarified and washed its hand off on the death of one Nishena Zhimo and Vikha Kiba, a member of the Ighanumi village Council who suffered ‘beaten injury’ and instead pointed its finger on the ‘Zhopra Vero Chakhesang group’.

A note from “Captain” ND Bikou, FGN, stated “on the report of Nagaland dailies of 23rd May 2007, I am directed to clarify about the death of Nishena Zhimo and Vikha Kiba, a member of the Ighanumi village Council who suffered beaten injury. They were beaten by Zhopra Vero Chakhesang group but not by the FGN members as reported by the media.”

The release stated that the ‘Chakhesang Zopra group’ is no more in the NNC and FGN fold and that they are not NNC/FGN members but ‘miscreant group’ demanding and robbing money from the innocent people for their own benefit. The FGN also stated that the same group robbed ‘crores of Rupees’ from Pfütsero Bank and therefore, what the ‘Chakhesang Zopra group’ had done is not the responsibility of the NNC/FGN. The NNC/FGN leaders expressed regret for the ‘wrong report of the media.’
