
MON, March 24 (DIPR): Mon observed World TB day with Lemei, Miss Mon 2016 as the guest of honour at St. Mary School, Mon on March 24. Speaking at the occasion, Lemei call upon the stakeholders to jointly combat TB to eradicate from our society and said putting an end to TB would be a historical achievement. She also urged upon the gathering to fight against stigma and discrimination against TB patients and asserted that observing World TB day is an opportunity for people from every corner of the world to join hands to fight against TB and educate the people.
Earlier, Significant of the day was proposed by Dr. Yannang MO, DH, Mon while introduction of school health programme was highlighted by Dr. Khobung Programme Manager, World Vision India. Ms. Yithmei enchanted the gathering with a special number. Meanwhile, Quize Competition was conducted by Ms. Kehile Semp DCO, Project Axshya CHAI/DAN.
It may be mentioned here that the World Vision India has launched the school health programme to address the health needs of school going children and adolescents in the Government and Government aided Schools. The Programme entails biannual health screening and early management of diseases, disability and common deficiency. The focus is to address the health needs of children both physical, mental, nutrition intervention, promotes physical activities and counseling etc. The programme was jointly organized by the RNTCP, Project Axshay, World Vision India and DAPCU.
