
DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): The Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati will conduct a Financial Outreach Camp at Mhainamtsi Village near Jalukie RD block in Peren District on March 15. A press note stated that this will be the fourth such programme in the state after similar programmes were held in Khonoma, Chumukedima and Changki villages.
It said that the camp at Mhainamtsi would be inaugurated by R. Gandhi, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India. It added that one of the main objectives of the Financial Outreach Camp is to spread awareness about the importance of financial inclusion and availability of financial services and products. In order to achieve this mission the RBI has partnered with various banks/financial institutions such as NABARD, SBI, Nagaland Rural Bank, Nagaland State Co operative Bank, UCO Bank HDFC bank, Axis bank, NEDFI, LIC etc.
It was also informed that the aforementioned partners would set up stalls at the camp venue. The noet stated that it will be a one day financial counseling camp during which villagers are made aware of the financial services/skill development facilities available to them along with details of contact persons.
The stalls of the financial institutions and government agencies would disseminate information regarding credit facilities/ government schemes etc. On the occasion, facility for exchange of soiled/mutilated notes and exchange of currency notes with coins would also be made available to the public. The RBI stall would, among others, provide information on the salient features of genuine bank notes, banking ombudsman scheme and the dangers of fictitious offers for cheap funds from abroad.
The press note added that since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2009-10, RBI Guahati has organized outreach programmes in villages across the North Eastern states.
