Fire in Dimapur’s Naharbari claims 5 lives

In a devastating incident that unfolded around 11pm of November 12, a fire ravaged a block of thatch dwellings in Naharbari village, Dimapur. It left 5 dead and around 40 families homeless. 

The victims all belonged to the same family, including the parents and their three sons. The children were aged 12, 14, and 28 years.

The property damage resulting from the fire was estimated at 61.4 lakh. 

The fire was suspected to have been caused by celebratory lighting (lamps) but it was still to be officially verified.
