Fire razes 2 houses, 10 families affected

Two houses at Police Colony were razed in a fire in Dimapur on March 13, leaving at least ten families homeless. It was in the afternoon, when fire engulfed the Assam-type residential structures, near Hotel Theja Fort, located not far from the Fire Station (Central).

According to Fire and Emergency personnel, it immediately responded to the scene after it was alerted of the fire at around 2:25 pm. The flames were brought under control by around 3:30 pm.  There was no report of human casualty, while the loss inflicted was estimated to be over Rs 30 lakh. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained but electrical short circuit was cited as a possible cause.
