A major fire tragedy was averted but not before destroying an old warehouse in Thahekhu village, Dimapur. The warehouse, located in Block-1 was housing a furniture-making unit, and was completely razed in the fire. It was suspected to have started at around 2:00 am, December 30. 

It was two hours before the flames were brought under control. According to the Fire & Emergency Services, fire personnel from Dimapur’s two fire stations were pressed into action immediately on receipt of information. Two fire trucks from Fire Station (West) and three from Fire Station (Central) were deployed. 

There was no report any human casualty. An electrical fault was suspected to have caused the fire, while loss of property was estimated to be Rs 50-60 lakh.
