First fibre glass composite gas cylinder in Nagaland launched

In a first in Nagaland, a fibre glass composite gas cylinder was formally launched at M/S Seyie Gas Service, D Block, Kohima on January 27.  

It was launched by special guest Kezhochole Rhetso, Deputy Director, Urban Development and General Manager (Planning) Kohima Smart City Development Limited and Diana Mepfhuo became the first customer of this composite cylinder in Nagaland.

The new fibre-made composite cylinders, available in 5 and 10 kg sizes, are lighter and easier to handle compared to the existing steel cylinders and it come with various safety measures.

Speaking at the launching programme, H Thangzamuan, Manager (LPG-S), Indane, a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, said that composite cylinder has many advantages over the existing steel cylinders.

The composite cylinder has a three-layered construction - a blow-molded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) inner liner, covered with a composite layer of polymer-wrapped fibre glass and fitted with a HDPE outer jacket.

Besides being light weight, with empty weight of a composite cylinder as half of its steel counterpart, its translucent body helps customers to accurately check the LPG level against light and plan their next refill easily.

The composite cylinder rust-free, and does not corrode, reducing the chances of leaving stains and marks on surfaces.
The aesthetical design makes cylinder visually appealing and ideal for modern kitchens of today; it is smart cylinder for smart kitchens, noted Solei Kumrah, Senior Plant Manager, Indane Bottling Plant, Dimapur.

The 10 kg variant is marketed only under the domestic non-subsidized category whereas the 5 kg variant is available under the domestic non-subsidized category and as free trade LPG (FTL) through various points of sale options
It was informed that the company is focusing on 10 kg in Nagaland for domestic purpose. 

The security deposit for domestic non-subsidized category stands at Rs 3350 and customers can replace their existing steel cylinder with composite cylinder by paying the difference in security deposit.

Earlier, chairing the function, Zedino Seyie Mepfhuo said that M/S Seyie Gas Service Kohima has entered into 26 years of its existence.
