The Carnival Support Services India Pvt. Ltd in partnership with Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI) is set to organize the first ever “North East Cruise Job Fair” on March 1 and 2 at Emporium Skills Training Institute, Dimapur. The fair will be held from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

As such, a welcome programme for the recruitment team of the Carnival Support Services India Pvt. Ltd (CSSI) was held here at ESTI this evening. Deputy Commissioner and Chairman-District Skills Committee, Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan IAS was the chief guest of the event.

Welcoming the recruitment team, the Deputy Commissioner expressed delight that the CSSI has chosen Dimapur and the ESTI for ‘this rare opportunity for the young people here.’

Having seen Nagaland and also other parts of the Northeastern states in general, he said that there is no dearth of talent, especially in the North East and Nagaland in particular. However, he pointed out that the youth here do not get the platform, where talent meets the opportunity, due to many factors such as geographical location and the State still being in a nascent stage in skill development and working in private sectors.

However “our young people are catching up fast, be it in the hospitality sector, aviation sector or any other private sectors. Our young people have always proved time and again that they are second to none,” he added.

Stating that the people of Nagaland have a natural knack in the hospitality sector with the least amount of training, he said that the State should capitalize and leverage more in all these skills.

While maintaining that there is always a preference of taking up government jobs, even though one is paid less, he stated that the government sector is already saturated, where it can only hold a sanctioned number of people. He urged the young students of ESTI to “move out of our comfort zone,” which is the only way to grow and to pursue a passion.

He further urged the youths to have “patience and perseverance in whatever you choose,” so that once you get that experience, “you will have the demand factor in the market, instead of you searching for it.” Stating that this cruise job fair is an opportunity which doesn't present itself too often, he urged them to make good use of the opportunity and to “believe in yourself.”

CSSI is India's largest crewing agency providing highly skilled and trained personnel for cruise ship operations worldwide. The recruitment team said that it recruits Indian personnel for eight of the nine Carnival Corporation cruise ship brands, i.e. Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises and Seabourn.

The CSSI is presently hiring for all hospitality ranks in the Kitchen, Housekeeping, F&B Service, Front Office and Security departments. Additionally, the team is also hiring for a range of marine positions in the Deck and Technical departments.

According to them, all recruitment is free and the recruitment procedures are fair and transparent without any bias whatsoever. The CSSI is duly licensed by the DG Shipping office in India to carry out recruiting and placement services in India.

The minimum educational qualification required is 10th standard with fluency in spoken English. Interested candidates must have an Indian passport and should have at least six months experience in any hospitality sector. 18 years and above are eligible for the recruitment.

For senior positions, a hotel school diploma or degree along with other specialist industry skills in line with the applied position are required.

Operations Manager, Emporium Training and Consultancy Pvt Ltd Anirban Mukherjee said that the Institute is expecting a good number of people tomorrow. “We are also having calls from different parts of the country like Kerala, Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka and not just the North East,” he added.

The team also said that it is looking for positive, outgoing and dynamic personalities to provide the best possible service. “Additionally, we also require a high level of integrity, care and respect for the environment and fellow colleagues who come from more than 100 countries across the world.”

After the programme, ribbon cutting by the recruitment manager of CSSI formally declared the ‘North East Cruise Job Fair’ open.

ESTI is an established organization that is guided under the framework of the Ministry of Skill Development & Nagaland Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Society. Through this collaboration, the Institute aims to bring the world’s best cruise ship career opportunities for the youth of the North East Indian states.
