Morung Express News Dimapur | February 26 The Manipur State Police have suspended five police personnel who were involved in the February 14 incident at Mantripukhri, where Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) leaders were harassed. Following the action taken by the Manipur Police, the NSF called off their bandh which had been imposed since February 24. An order by the Manipur ADGP, C Doungel, dated February 25, ordered the suspension of the five personnel. In a letter to the NSF, the ADGP termed the February 14 incident as “unfortunate and regrettable as it caused inconvenience to some members of the NSF travelling to Ukhrul on that day.” The NSF acknowledged the Manipur State Government for taking action on the issue and also appreciated the efforts of Investigation Officer (Enquiry Committee), IK Muivah, DIG. The NSF expressed hope that the Manipur Government would uphold their commitment in letter and in spirit. NSF further informed that the Manipur Government has also assured of providing security to Nagas and Nagaland vehicles in and around Imphal valley. Meanwhile, a report from IANS stated that the “Union Home Ministry had instructed the Manipur Government to initiate necessary steps against the police personnel.”
