Mokokchung | November 12
A flock of hornbill birds were sighted in Mokokchung’s Minkong forest located about 8 kilometers east of the town on Saturday. Eyewitnesses said the famed bird numbering about 12 arrived from the east and identified them as the Great Indian Hornbill. The birds were sighted by hunter-gatherers in the forest that falls under Longmisa village territory. It may be recalled that the hornbills were also sighted last year during the month of January at Namen forest of Khar village, also in Mokokchung, where they roosted for more than a month.
