Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): A two-day food safety supervisor course under Food Safety Training and Certificate (FoSTaC) was conducted under the initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) at Hotel Saramati on January 30 and 31.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh and Amit Kumar Singh from Aroma Shiksha Evam Sewa Samiti (Kolkata) were the Resource persons for the Training. A brief introduction to FSSAI was presented by Samuel Zehol, Designated Officer, Dimapur zone, stated a press release issued by the District Programme Management Unit, Dimapur.
The training was imparted in two batches, i.e. morning session and evening session and on the first day more than 30 Food Business Operators (FBO) from the Manufacturing Category of Food Business were trained. On the second day, about 30 FBOs from Restaurants and Hotels were trained.
The FBOs were trained on the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), proper labeling of products etc. The FBOs were also informed on mandatory requirement of FSSAI License & Registration by every Food Business Operator, Fitness Certificate must be obtained by every food handler, proper use of artificial colorants or sweeteners in food and within permitted limit, and details on how the nutritional information for their products can be tested from the State Public Laboratory, Kohima or other private laboratories outside Nagaland.
The IEC materials such as leaflets, pink book, dart, and orange books on Food Safety were also given to the FBOs during the training.
