
Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): For the first time in record, forest department officials have been awarded with Governor's gold medals. The forest protection force has also been awarded with Governor's commendation certificate for protection of Amur Falcon.
On occasion of Republic Day 2014, two Range Forest officers, Obed Bohovi Swu and Rampaukai and Forest Protection Force got Governor's awards for their services in conservation and protection of forests and biodiversity in the state.
“I am very happy today because my officers and staff got Governor Awards; they deserve it for their services. The awards will give motivation and moral boost to the officers and staff for protection and preservation of our rich forests and biodiversity,” M. Lokeswara Rao, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force Nagaland said in a press release.
Obed Bohovi Swu, Range Officer, Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar, Dimapur received Governor's gold medal award in view of his services in protection and conservation of biodiversity and being instrumental in development of Nagaland Zoological Park and also for protecting government property from encroachers.
Rampaukai, Range officer Jalukie Range, Peren Forest Division also received the award in view of his services to the Forest Department in protection and conservation of biodiversity, wildlife crime control initiatives and developing old Jalukie community biodiversity reserve and creating awareness among communities for protection of forests.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Protection force was given Governor's commendation certificate for protecting the Amur Falcon roosting site day and night with dedication.
