KOHIMA, MARCH 3 (MExN): A major forest fire broke out near botsa village, between the Touphema and Chechama border on the night of March 2. The SP of the Fire and Emergency Services, Kohima while talking to this reporter stated that information about the fire reached the department only on the morning of March 3, following which two tenders were dispatched. It was reported that youth leaders from Touphema also provided assistance to the Emergency personnel. However, officials stated that the fire had spread to areas which could not be reached by the emergency personnel, following which the personnel returned to Kohima. The fire is still reported to be raging till the final of this report. The SP stated that that since the fire has moved on to an inaccessible area, the personnel are waiting for the fire to burn out naturally.
