Former DHD leader Nunisa shot at, injured

  Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): Former Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) leader Pranab Nunisa was shot at and was injured by unidentified miscreants near Diphu on Saturday.   According to media reports, the incident occurred between 12-12.30pm on October 6 at Nahorbari area, around six kilometres away from Diphu, the headquarter of Karbi Anglong district.   Nunisa, who was on a motorcycle, was shot from behind with two bullets while coming back to his village near Doldoli Reserve Forest. He fell from the bike and jumped into the jungle for cover, a local media report said.   He was immediately admitted to Diphu Civil Hospital, and later was rushed to Guwahati for further treatment, another report added.   Army and Police officials have reportedly rushed to Diphu after the incident.   Meanwhile, the All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU), Karbi Anglong District Committee has condemned the “heinous attack” on the former DHD Commander-in-Chief “in strongest possible terms.”   “ADSU strongly demand for immediate enquiry, arrest the culprits and hope the criminals will be brought to justice,” the Union posted on its Facebook page   The DHD officially disbanded in March 2013, as part of a tripartite memorandum of settlement (MoS) between the Centre, the state government and the surrendered DHD belonging to the Nunisa and Jewel Garlosa factions signed on October 8, 2012.
