MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon apointed as BJP National Spokesperson

Former Nagaland’s Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dr M Chuba Ao was appointed as one of the 12 National Vice-Presidents of the Party in the major overhaul within the ranks of party announced on September 26.
Apart from Dr Ao, two-term Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon was also appointed as one of the one of the National Spokesperson.
Dr Ao is currently the Chairman of Nagaland State Co-operative Marketing & Consumers’ Federation Ltd (MARCOFED), a post he assumed after the ormation of People Democrartic Alliance Government in Nagaland in 2018.
Meanwhile. touted as the “Team Nadda” under the leadership of BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, the appointments annouced on Saturday accommodated three ex-Chief Ministers as BJP Vice Presidents while there has been a major overhaul among national general secretaries with many significant names dropped and new faces given a chance, IANS news agency reported.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia, and ex-Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das are three former CMs among the 12 national vice presidents.
While Bhupender Yadav, Arun Singh, and Kailash Vijayvargiya continue to remain national general secretaries, new faces like C.T. Ravi from Karnataka have been inducted as well. D. Purandeswari from Andhra Pradesh has also been made national general secretary, it said.
Notable omissions include Ram Madhav as National Secretary and Murlidhar Rao, who was in-charge of the southern states.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio took to Twitter to congratulate both the new BJP’s appointees.
“Congratulations to Shri M. Chuba Ao and Shri @MmhonlumoKikon on being appointed National Vice President and National Spokesperson of @BJP4India, respectively. I wish you both a successful tenure,” Rio stated.
