
Kohima, July 26 (DIPR): Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (I/C) DoNER and Chairman, NEC, laid the foundation stone of Barak Hostel for North East students at JNU, New Delhi on July 24, 2017. The hostel will have five floors. Apart from the student rooms, the hostel will have all the required facilities, such as Hostel Offices, Dining Hall, Common Room and other facilities for students. Vice Chancellor, Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar on the occasion felt delighted that the North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER is helping JNU to build the hostel. In his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, “To have a special hostel for the North East region is to bring the beauty and richness and wisdom of the region for larger dissemination.” He added, “North East is one of the fastest growing regions of India where the growth rate is nearly 20 per cent.” Secretary DoNER, Naveen Verma and Secretary NEC, Ram Muivah also assured prompt action for speedy construction of the hostel. Five Members of Parliament from the North East Region were also present on the occasion.
