Mokokchung, September 27 (MExN): The Four Ward Youth Associations in Mokokchung town have requested the Government of Nagaland to release the amount allotted for Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) road by October to start maintenance.
The four youth associations viz Penli Ward Youth Association, Majakong Ward Youth Association, Lijaba Lijen Ward Youth Association and Artang Ward Youth Association have earlier submitted a representation to the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner seeking immediate repairs of the road leading to the IMDH.
In a joint statement, it stated that the associations met the Urban Development officials to discuss as to when the maintenance will start, whether the road will be done by the concerned Department or Contractor and whether any first aid repair will be initiated by the concerned Department before the work starts.
“But the concerned Department has said that the maintenance of the road will start from October last week after the rainy season but they were not in a state to temporarily repair the road in order to make it motorable before the work commences,” they stated.
The youth associations added that in regard to the representation to the DC, they ‘were never called for a formal discussion and no intimation was given through letter.’
Meanwhile, they have requested the concerned department/contractors or whoever does the work to construct the road as per the Detailed Project Report as the youth associations will keep an eye as watch dog.
