DIMAPUR, APRIL 1 (MExN): One youth was badly bashed up by four persons at a popular hotel-cum-liquor store located near the Dhobinullah intersection, Friday evening. The thrashing was the result of a verbal spat between the youth and the manager of the ‘hotel’ – Hotel Punjab Palace.
According to the account of the injured party, he had a heated exchange of words with the manager when he went to the ‘hotel’ to buy liquor. The manager reportedly spoke in a rude manner which irked the youth, who in turn broke the glass counter manned by the manager. This action is said to have further annoyed four other youths who were also having a drink at the place. The foursome after badly thrashing the youth later dumped him into another room.
The injured managed to call up his relatives for help, nevertheless. The arrival of the relatives further created quite a hullabaloo at the busy Dhobinulla road affecting the flow of vehicular traffic. Some police personnel who reached the scene failed to contain the commotion at first. Only after the arrival of another team of police from the West Police Station, some forty minutes later, eventually brought the situation under control; while the four assaulters absconded from the scene.
